Fancy a day off? Well technically you should get one on February 29.

Fancy a day off? Well we think that technically you should get one on February 29. Ok, so leap years generally mean businesses get an extra day’s free out of their staff, but The National Trust has also equated that this means extra energy consumption.

For the 4,800 employees and 49,000 volunteers of The National Trust, each will be given the opportunity to spend the day at home or in their local communities, reducing their carbon footprint and taking a rightfully deserved holiday.

But for all the energy saving the Trust is hoping to achieve, will it really make a difference? Or should we really be questioning the labour millions of businesses around the world will get for free?

    Apparently this year (2008) has 53 weeks in it and this happens every 11 years. One day extra, how does a a whole week grab you...poor Woodland Trust, they'll go spare...
